Family Intensives at Bloom Developmental Center
Teaching Parents How to Support Their Autistic Child’s Development
At Bloom Developmental Center in League City, Texas, we believe families play the most important role in a child’s development. Our therapy center supports autistic children using developmental therapy that focuses on regulation, communication, and learning.
What makes Bloom unique is that we do not only provide therapy to the child. We teach parents how to use the same strategies at home during everyday life so their child can continue growing outside of the therapy room.
Our Family Intensive program was designed with this goal in mind.
What Is a Family Intensive?
The Bloom Family Intensive is a four day individualized coaching program for parents and their autistic child. Over the course of four days, families receive 16 hours of therapy and parent training designed to help them understand their child’s development and learn practical strategies they can use every day at home.
Families travel from across the United States and around the world to participate in this program. During your visit, the clinic is reserved exclusively for your family, creating a calm and focused environment where you can learn, practice, and ask questions without distractions.
This program is not about your child sitting through therapy sessions. Instead, it is about teaching parents how to become confident guides in their child’s development.
What Happens During the Four Days
Each day of the intensive includes therapy sessions with your child while parents observe, participate, and learn alongside them. Ashley helps you understand your child’s developmental profile and demonstrate ways to support their growth through play and interaction.
Parents learn how to
Follow their child’s lead during play
Create interactions that encourage communication
Recognize and support emotional regulation
Read their child’s behaviors and respond intentionally
Turn everyday moments into opportunities for learning
These strategies are rooted in a developmental therapy approach called Floortime, which emphasize connection and engagement as the foundation for learning.
Why Parent Involvement Matters
At Bloom, we believe connection is the most powerful tool for supporting a child’s growth and development.
Children learn best through meaningful relationships with the people who know them and love them most. When parents understand how to engage their child in ways that support regulation, communication, and thinking, progress can happen more naturally throughout the day.
Everyday moments are happening all the time. Mealtime, playtime, getting dressed, or spending time together can all become opportunities for learning and connection. When parents know how to use these moments intentionally, children often make faster and more meaningful developmental progress.
